Consultancy Services for the Careers and Employability sectors

There has rarely been a time of such change in the careers and employability arena. Employers are crying out for entrants to the labour market to be flexible, digitally aware, technically skilled and able to solve problems. Young people and adults demand that learning equips them effectively for the world of work and are supported in deciding the most appropriate pathway from the increasing range available to them…

…Parents want schools and colleges to offer more than accreditation, and to help young people develop confidence, resilience and aspirations. Learning providers and support agencies need to bid for an increasingly wide array of funding streams and give themselves a competetive advantage to attract funding and learners in order to succeed. The government is increasing its focus on quality through its Career Strategy and the Gatsby Benchmarks whilst Ofsted is stepping up its scrutiny of how we are preparing learners for the real world.

All of this demands organisations to have a clear purpose and focus – something that can be supported by an external perspective offering appropriate challenges. The experience that I have in managing delivery and assessing quality across this sector means that that I can make a valuable and cost-effective contribution to your organisation. Why not contact me for an informal, no-obligation chat? I look forward to hearing from you.

    Detailed knowledge and understanding

Steve was a senior manager at Positive Steps for over 25 years. He spearheaded a huge expansion of the organisation’s footprint over that period, securing over 60 different contracts for careers-related provision with schools, colleges, local authorities and a host of other funders. He has a detailed knowledge and understanding of the careers and employability sector and the ability to inspire and empower those he manages to make the most of their abilities.

      Supportive yet challenging

It was important to Rotunda to have a quality assessor who had spent the time to research and look into our organisation before undertaking the full assessment. Steve was this person – he was equally knowledgeable in education and training which ensured that he was rigorous in his assessment of our organisation under the matrix Standard as he knew our sector of delivery so well. He was supportive yet challenging – asking pertinent questions around our delivery and changes we were making based upon feedback from our client groups, then making us prove it! Steve’s approach was calm and clear at all levels that he worked with during the assessment and he delivered with a high level of professionalism at all times.

Head of Operations / The Rotunda

        Informative and inspiring

I commissioned Steve to deliver an input to a group of our trainee careers practitioners to talk about his extensive experience in career guidance, leading management and recruitment of careers practitioners, winning bids, managing projects, and working as an assessor of the matrix Standard for IAG. The feedback from the students was hugely positive, commenting on the clear, informative and inspiring nature of the session.
